Royal Mail has launched a new shipping tool to help larger retailers fulfil complex orders as well as an API that allows retailers to better integrate their systems with Royal Mail.
Pro Shipping provides a range of capabilities to simplify orders and returns, according to Royal Mail. This includes tools for managing large lists of customers as well as the ability to print outward and return labels simultaneously.
The system allows multiple user access from different locations and offers automatic printing of customers documentation such as customs documentation.
Any customers using the API will also have access to the Pro Shipping tool, said the company. The functionality complements Click & Drop, Royal Mail’s shipping platform for small to medium businesses.
Intersoft, which Royal Mail acquired in 2016, developed both tools.
Royal Mail said that the tool was future proofed to manage new requirements such as Electronic Customs and can be easily updated.
A spokesperson from Royal Mail Parcels said: “With the launch of Royal Mail Pro Shipping and Royal Mail API Shipping we now offer a full range of shipping solutions to our customers, dependent on their size and ways of working.
“The launch of both solutions follows a year of development work based on the needs of our customers. Our teams are working hard with customers to help them migrate over to our latest solutions this year.”
