Ninety-minute deliveries are set to reach shoppers in six more UK cities outside London as logistics company Shutl expands its service.
Four out of 10 online shoppers will now be able to use the Shutl Now or Shutl Later services, the company said today, announcing that Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and Liverpool had been added to the geographical areas that it covers.
The service allows shoppers to get their online order in an hour and a half, or to choose the hour that they’d like to receive their order in, 24 hours a day. Costs start at £4.95 but some retailers offer the service for free to boost sales.
Initially, Aurora Fashions brands Karen Millen, Coast, Oasis and Warehouse will offer the service and other names are expected to sign up to the service soon.
The expansion takes the service to 11 UK cities, with London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester already served. Shutl launched the service when it signed up Argos for deliveries within the M25 last year, but since then the geographical range has grown fast.
“This next phase of Shutl’s rollout will enable us to serve around 40% of the UK’s online shoppers,” said Tom Allason, founder and chief executive of Shutl. “We are on track to providing high-street retailers with a game-changing delivery proposition in time for Christmas, a key weapon in the battle for market share with Amazon and the other pureplay etailers.”
