Space NK set for international online expansion

Beauty retailer Space NK has relaunched its website as it looks to expand internationally.

The company’s UK and US sites have gone live, and are set to be followed by a series of sites dedicated to specific brands. The ecommerce operation is built on eCommera’s Commerce Platform, which allows Space NK to run a range of international sites from a single product catalogue.

“We have ambitious plans to grow our online business over the next three years,” said Saverio Bianchi, head of ecommerce at Space NK, “and we wanted to work with a partner that understood our business and the complexities of trading online internationally, which is where we see our key growth.

“The eCommera team has great retail credentials and they understand the challenges we face, and have been able to deliver a clear roadmap for us.”

Space NK opened its first store in London’s Covent Garden in 1993. Today it has 60 shops in the UK and 21 in the US. Online it aims to reach new markets.

Andrew McGregor, chief executive of eCommera, said: “One of Space NK’s big growth objectives is around international expansion, and the advantage of our platform is that it’s easy for them to introduce additional sites in new territories very quickly on the back of the success of the initial site – in fact, they can be up and running within weeks. We look forward to our work with Space NK to deliver the functionality and online presence which will help meet their business objectives.”

The Commerce Platform brings together a Demandware ecommerce platform, CyberSource’s secure online payments, The Third Man’s fraud prevention, BazaarVoice’s social media integration and Responsys’ digital campaign management. Its clients include Asda, House of Fraser and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games.
