Children’s furniture brand Stokke is to expand into the US, Canada and Europe using the internet.

The Norwegian company will sell its highchairs, baby carriers, strollers and other equipment direct to the public in markets where it has previously distributed its products through third-party retailers.

The company has opted for Demandware Commerce web platform while its payments will go through Computop’s Paygate 6.0 multichannel payment platform.

Christian Øvregaard, global ecommerce director at Stokke said: “The strength of Computop’s partnership with Demandware was pretty compelling for us when choosing the right payment solution for our new ecommerce platform. This is about driving our global approach, so that single point of integration together with secure, local choice was key. We’re also confident that this will support a good conversion rate for us.”

Computop chief executive Ralf Gladis said: “For online retailers, application integration can be as much as 50% of the overall cost and time required for implementing new e-commerce technologies. The pre-built integration between Computop Paygate and Demandware Commerce can significantly reduce implementation time, ultimately translating into measurable cost and time savings for customers like Stokke. As well as faster access to markets, this gives retailers real confidence in the mix of secure payment methods they offer through their ecommerce businesses, to drive conversions and customer satisfaction.”

As Stokke expands its global footprint, the family-run business plans to include more payment solutions via the Computop and Demandware platforms.
