Occa Home has won funding of £1.5m from investors including former Tesco boss Sir Terry Leahy, who has joined the online retailer’s board.

Investment for the interior design specialist retailer has also come from Artemis Fund Managers, a consortium of private equity funds, as well as from existing shareholders Bill Dobbie and the William Currie Group.

Jill Little, former buying, merchandising and strategy director for the John Lewis Partnership, also joins Occa’s board as it strengthens its management team to support an accelerated growth strategy. Development of the growth strategy has been the focus for the board since Robert Willet joined as chairman in July.

Kate Mooney, founder and chief executive of Occa Home, said: “We are delighted to welcome our new shareholders and advisors to Occa, “many of whom bring extensive ecommerce experience to business and we’re trilled to be working with retail stalwarts including Sir Terry, Jill and Bob as we go for significant growth over the next three years.”

Occa Home was launched in 2009 and now sells a range of curated collections, design branded furniture and homewares. It has grown by triple digits year-on-year.
