Students have voted with their feet to use click and collect services through their student union shop. CollectPlus has offered collection and returns services through the on campus Essentials shop run by Leeds University Student Union.

Since then, term-time parcel volumes have grown by 35% month-on-month, with an 85% uplift during the exam period. Overall, says CollectPlus, Essentials processes 8% more parcels than the average store in the CollectPlus network.

“With online shopping very popular amongst the student demographic, who have grown up wth the internet and expect convenience, there’s proven to be a huge appetite for click and collect and returns services on campus,” said Catherine Woolfe, CollectPlus marketing director.

Essentials store manager, Diane Harvey added: “Many of the students who use the CollectPlus service are regular customers, so for them it’s easy to pick up a parcel while they are buying their basics. We’re also open every day, unlike most Post Offices, so since introducing CollectPlus’ services, we’ve seen some new faces, which is great. As well as the convenience offered by click and collect, the option to return items for free also appeals to our students, who are often on tight budgets.”
