SubX World 2023

Last week, the first-ever SubX World conference for the D2C subscription industry took place, joining together subscription businesses from retail, media and ecommerce.

In the first event of its kind in Europe, Internet Retailing proved its editorial prowess in capturing the subscriptions industry with a sold out event, featuring keynote speakers, case studies and panel discussions from leading subscriptions-based businesses across a wide-range of sectors and networking opportunities with key industry partners, suppliers, and experts.

Here are some of the highlights from the day and discover how primarily-subscription businesses have entered and influenced the digital-direct-to-consumer sector in our free report, in partnership with headline sponsors Imagino and Avalara.

What went on?

Speaking at the event, Hotel Chocolat’s head of customer marketing Amy Harman discussed how the company delivered significant growth and gained new customers with its new Velvetiser refill subscription scheme.

Pictured with InternetRetailing’s Paul Skeldon, Avalara’s senior director of sales Sacha Wilson and Tarmo van der Goot, VP EMEA at Chargebee, discussed the opportunities and challenges of implementing a new business model.

Pret a Manger’s global head of propositions Ed Ferguson joined, Toby Winch, growth lead at Bower Collective and CEO & co-founder of Cocoon, Ceanne Fernandes-Wong, to examine how to reduce subscriber churn, whilst optimising marketing for growth and discuss how consumers’ interactions with brands have shifted.

DeliveryX editor Katie Searles spoke with Matthew Gaunt, founder of the eponymous brand and former customer director at Majestic Wine about the vital role of content in growing a community of loyal subscribers.

Can you spot yourself?

A huge thank you from the whole InternetRetailing team and to all the speakers, guests and of course our partners Imagino and Avalara, alongside our sponsors Adyen, Nest Commerce, Recharge, Scurri, Stripe, Supercycle and Worldline.
