Superdrug is set to launch the first marketplace from a high street health and beauty retailer in September.

More than 200 brands have now signed up to sell through the new marketplace at launch – and the retailer is inviting innovative brands to get in touch. Those already signed up to the marketplace include beauty brand Wonderskin, sustainable brand Truthbrush, and ethical brand OPV Beauty.

Once launched the new platform will be integrated into Superdrug.com, where both new sellers and established brands will be available to buy. The new wider range available on the marketplace will stretch from wearables to health testing. Reusable app brand TotsBots and accessories brand Popmask are among those who have signed up to the marketplace, and Superdrug is particularly keen to include local, female-founded, inclusive and sustainable new brands alongside trend-led brands.

Superdrug ecommerce director Matt Walburn says: “We have a long track record of supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses and promoting diversity and inclusion within the industry. Superdrug Marketplace is the logical next step for our business. As well as further strengthening our accessible health and beauty offering, it’s designed to help remove listing barriers for innovators in the market and provide hundreds of offline and online businesses with a flexible business opportunity and support they need to succeed in the digital world.”

Brands selling through the market will need to fulfil orders to a level of customer service set out by Superdrug.

Walburn adds: “As we draw closer to the launch of the marketplace we are excited by the hundreds of brands that we have already enlisted to join us on our next innovative move. The marketplace makes a listing with Superdrug now possible for more up and coming brands and gives our customers a wider range to enjoy, from luxury to trending beauty and wellness hacks.”

Superdrug sells online and through more than 830 shops in the UK and Ireland and is ranked Top150 in RXUK Top500 research. It is owned by the Hong Kong-based AS Watson Group.
