SportsShoes.com is developing a creative and tech hub at its Bradford head office that it says will help it meet its ambition of being the world’s most sustainable running equipment retailer by 2025.

The building is being created through the refurbishment of an existing warehouse, reducing the carbon emissions compared to a new building. Solar panels on its roof will generate the power the building requires, while windows are designed to bring natural light into the building.

SportsShoes.com managing director Brett Bannister says: “Our vision is to have a creative and tech hub that provides the very best environment for our people, brand patrons and suppliers to collaborate and enjoy. We are now going to make that vision a reality and deliver an outstanding facility that represents and reflects everything the SportsShoes.com brand stands for.

“Unit 2 will play a fundamental role in enabling our continued expansion. We can’t wait to start working from it and welcoming our people, brand partners, suppliers and new employees to the building.”

The retailer, ranked Top250 in RXUK Top500 research, is investing £2.5m in the new 10,750 sq ft building as part of its strategic growth plan.

The hub is expected to be in use by the end of the year, and is designed to reflect the run, gym and hike elements of the business – featuring elements including a racetrack and climbing ladders. Collaborative workspaces will sit alongside quiet working pods, a showroom, meeting rooms, a boardroom and a photography studio.

SportsShoes.com was founded in 1982 and today sells a range of more than 170,000 products from 150 running and outdoor brands – from Asics, Nike and Adidas to Montane, Rob and Patagonia.
