Swiss Post doubles down on same-day delivery with acquisition

Swiss Post has acquired a courier start-up as it looks to expand its same-day delivery offering.
The carrier has paid an undisclosed amount for notime, which uses optimised route planning to deliver goods via bicycle or electric scooters.

The companies will look to combine their same-day offerings, with Swiss Post also making use of the company’s IT tool which allows retailers to fully automate their processes. As well as offering same-day delivery with specific time slots, notime’s team collect ordered goods from online retailers and deliver them directly.

Same-day delivery has been working with notime for some time, including taking a majority stake in the company in March 2018. Their combined offering has worked with Zalando to allow customers to place an order between midnight and 10.30 AM. Zalando staff will then prepare the orders at Lahr in Germany before they are transported to Switzerland and to a local distribution centre.
