In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we reflect on some interesting multichannel developments offered by players from John Lewis to House of Fraser. There’s a common theme to both John Lewis’ decision to move to open its first airport shop, soon to be followed by a railway station shop, and to House of Fraser’s decision to sell through Tesco’s marketplace on Tesco Direct. Both put established brands in front of potential new customers, whether they’re about to get on a flight, or shopping on a rival’s website.
It may well be moves like this that help European and UK online sales to grow over coming years, and we report today on Forrester’s forecast of how fast that growth will come.
Today we also have news of MandM Direct’s plans to float on the stockmarket, and how the way we buy is changing thanks to the growth of ecommerce, in the BRC’s Payments Report 2013.
Finally, our latest report on the shortlist for the Internet Retailing Awards 2014 takes a look at the Capability Award.
