London’s Tate Galleries have launched a new online shop, as the organisation looks to boost sales at home and abroad.

Profits from the ecommerce site, run by the Tate’s trading company Tate Enterprises, are used to support its galleries in London, St Ives and Liverpoo. Greater ecommerce sales results in higher levels of funding. Products available online include commissioned work from artists, designers, illustrators and authors, from limited edition prints to cards, clothing, textiles, books and homeware.

The new-look site is the result of a year’s work with on-demand commerce provider Venda. Features on the site, a relaunch of an ecommerce shop that dates back almost a decade, include improved navigation, product merchandising and images, as well as zoom, reviews and a quick shop facility.

Laura Wright, chief executive of Tate Enterprises, said: “We are extremely proud of our new ecommerce website and the exceptional user experience it offers our customers. We have ambitious plans to grow our sales in the future so that we can continue to support Tate’s activities.”

Eric Abensur, CEO at Venda, added: “Successful galleries are realising the importance of the evolving multi-channel ecommerce market formaximising commercial benefits. It’s an exciting time for Tate with the expansion of its eStore both in the UK and across the globe, and we look forward to helping it deliver further incremental revenues through its online channel.”
