Supermarket Tesco is preparing to roll out its ecommerce platform internationally, with sales due to go live in the Czech Republic later this year. More countries will be added in 2012.

The company is using ecommerce technology from the IVIS Group to help in that venture. The company has chosen its Sonetto e-commerce technology to provide product information management as well as price and promotion management capabilities.

“We already use Sonetto in the UK for both our grocery and non-food websites,” said Richard Copperthwaite, IT Director at Tesco.com. “The new version of the software will be used for our international sites – it’s simpler for staff to use and better for our customers.”

Sonetto’s basket management for Tesco enables correct promotions and prices to be applied.

“We are extremely excited to be selected as the platform of choice for the international expansion of Tesco.com,” said Paul Bolton, director of product and strategy at IVIS Group. “Sonetto offers unique capabilities to organisations like Tesco who want to be leaders in customer-centric, multi-channel retail.”
