The online sales growth that’s driving the retail industry to invest in digital

In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we’ve interesting analysis of just where shoppers are spending online, thanks to ONS figures out today.

Those figures show continuing growth for online sales, but strong growth in particular for sectors including department stores. It’s no surprise that retailers and the industry in general are investing in skills and innovating online. We report today on just how M&S went about developing its new website, on House of Fraser’s move to optimise customer journeys, and on new investment reported this week by companies from Rakuten to Kiddicare founder Scott Weavers-Wright and KPMG.

We’ve an interview with Chris Haighton of Shop Direct in today’s IRX 2014 preview while today’s guest comment is from Chris Webster of eBay, who considers the need for retailers to get ahead of crossborder shoppers.
