eBay aims to boost customer service through new standards for sellers
has introduced new standards that it says will help its sellers meet buyers' expectations of quality customer service online.
Changes introduced by the marketplace include new picture standards, designed in particular to improve the experience for shoppers as they browse through mobile phones, a new returns policy, to ensure sellers comply with new EU regulations, and a new international tracked postage service.
eBay says the changes will help meet the higher expectations that maturing online shoppers now have of customer service, which must combine the convenience of online shopping with the best high street experience, while staying consistent across channels.
“As eBay continues to evolve, we want to ensure we are offering the sophisticated online shopper the level of service they expect,” said Patrick Munden, head of seller communications at eBay Europe. “Many of our business sellers are already employing excellent practices in online selling and are seeing the rewards. We want this level of excellence to be consistent across eBay, creating a mutually beneficial situation for buyers and sellers.
“For buyers, eBay will offer a seamless, straightforward shopping experience. In turn, sellers will benefit as eBay.co.uk – which has approximately 18m unique monthly visitors – continues to grow.”
