M-commerce websites in the UK achieved traffic increases of between 50 and 100% throughout the Christmas weekend, reveals Usablenet of the many m-commerce enabled web properties it launched for clients including ASOS.com, JD Sports, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Next Retail Limited, and Tesco, among others.

Sunday December 26th was the busiest day for mobile activity as shoppers turned to their smartphones to check store locations, compare prices, and complete purchases when taking advantage of Boxing Day sales. According to Usablenet, the top 5 devices used to access these mobile websites are iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Nokia, and iPod.

“Given that Christmas weekend marks one of the most active shopping periods in the UK, retailers’ increasing adoption of fully optimized mobile websites provides greater on-the-go convenience to consumers, enhances the in-store shopping experience, and maximizes purchase opportunities,” said Usablenet President Nick Taylor. “Consumers can shop, wherever they are.”

Usablenet has created a transformative technology platform over the last decade that extends all features, functionality, and information contained on clients’ websites (or other available sources) to their customers wherever they are — including mobile phones, mobile applications, tablet devices, Facebook and other social media, in-store kiosks, and more.
