Vinted has extended its partnership with Royal Mail so that its shoppers can now collect purchases from Royal Mail’s 2,000 lockers and almost 8,000 Collect+ Parcelshops, as well as send them. Vinted becomes the first brand to use the locker collection service.
The extension of the send and collect deal provides another option for buyers wanting to order through the Vinted platform but who don’t want orders sent to their house. Customers who prefer Royal Mail’s home delivery will continue to have this option, however.
Royal Mail is rapidly expanding its parcel pick-up and drop-off network across the UK to meet growing demand from online shoppers and second-hand marketplace sellers. Last month it announced the extension of its locker network with 500 new sites in petrol stations in partnership with Motor Fuel Group.
As well as the locker and Collect+ Parcelshop networks, Vinted customers can use 11,500 Post Office branches and 1,200 Royal Mail Customer Service Points – a choice of over 22,000 locations in total.
In April, Royal Mail launched the ability for customer to send larger parcels through postboxes and request proof of posting on its app with a pilot of its solar-powered postboxes of the future. The capability will also be rolled out to Vinted users in the coming months.
Vytautas Atkoičaitis, vice president of Vinted Go, said: “We’re excited to expand our partnership with Royal Mail and give Vinted members full access to their UK-wide parcel pick-up and drop-off network. Royal Mail’s new Local Collect service, which makes new PUDO points available for our members, supports our commitment to cost-efficient, convenient, and more sustainable shipping, making it even easier for people across the country to buy and sell pre-loved items on Vinted.”
Alistair Cochrane, interim chief executive officer at Royal Mail, said: “We’re committed to making it as convenient as possible for our customers to send and collect parcels, whether at home or through our growing network of out-of-home locations. We’re excited to take our partnership with Vinted to the next level and we’re ramping up to deliver tens of millions of pre-loved items up and down the UK.”
