Homewares designer and retailer Wallace Sacks has launched a new web shop, designed and built by small business specialist Screen Pages on the open-source Magento ecommerce platform.

The new site includes a broad range of best practice ecommerce features including strong SEO, filtered navigation, single page and guest checkouts, multiple product images and on-page zooms and cross-sells, product reviews, tags and RSS feeds. It is also integrated with MNP‘s Order Active mail order package to improve customer service and reduce processing costs.

“We have seen a big change in consumer shopping habits for our kind of lifestyle products, with a massive uptake in online spend,” says Stephen Sacks, managing director at Wallace Sacks. “This investment will give us a massive leap forward in terms of functionality and service: Already we are seeing larger order values. For us Magento offers state-of-the-art and feature rich e-commerce capability at a fraction of the budget, on a non-proprietary platform.”

The family owned business has online sales approach £1m annually, and has seen conversions rise by 172% year-on-year over the first six months of 2009.
