Why innovation is a must in a changing retail environment

In today’s Internet Retailing newsletter we report on innovations and strategies from leading UK retailers from Hungryhouse, as it launches new beacon technology, to Jimmy Choo, reporting on six months of social media and replatforming, and Saltrock, as it launches a new website to support it in a strategy of international expansion.

Continuous innovation is a must in a retail environment that is changing so quickly. Today, for example, we report on new IMRG figures that show how the way we shop online continues to evolve: while m-commerce sales may be plateauing, for the moment, some 60% of web traffic to retail sites is now from a mobile device. And we take the long view in an IRC 2015 interview with Ian Jindal of InternetRetailing, who considers how the industry has changed over the decade that the conference has been running.

Our guest comment today comes from Guy Podjarny, CTO web experience at Akamai Technologies, who shares his top five tips for ensuring responsive web design really works.
