Cycle and sports retailer Wiggle says it is upgrading its website security and performance to make sure that its payment systems keep pace with its expansion worldwide.
The company ships bikes, cycling and triathlon clothes and equipment to more than 70 countries worldwide. Most shoppers can now browse the site in their own language and currency, paying in US dollars, euros, yen, as well as Danish and Swedish kroner.
It has now introduced CDNetworks’ Web Performance Suite, with the aim of keeping its shopping experience fast, wherever the online order comes from.
Aidan Fitzpatrick, IT director at Wiggle, said: “As we capture new customer bases around the world, the only way to compete with domestic offerings is to ensure that we are equally as fast in our ability to serve our customers. With the ecommerce market expanding year on year, the ever increasing proliferation of online businesses means we have to have technology that works harder to keep us ahead of the competition.”
Robert Gribnau, vice-president and general manager, EMEA at CDNetworks, said: ”E-commerce has enabled domestic retailers to capture customers in territories far beyond their domestic borders. Providing a holistic standard of service globally, however, presents a number of data challenges, as in any given territory you have to be as good as, if not better, than the competing local provider.”
