Online bike retailer Wiggle.co.uk has been named Britain’s most visited cycling website by Experian Hitwise for the fifth year in a row.

The site, according to the Experian figures, was the most visited website in its sector in the first half of 2010. It was also ranked fourth overall in the wider sports and fitness retail industry.

In July the site saw 3.4m visits, 62% up on the same time last year.

Martin Talbot, Wiggle’s director of marketing, said: “Wiggle has a great reputation among cyclists, triathletes and sports enthusiasts as the UK’s leading online bikes retailer, so winning this award once again confirms this.”

Earlier this year Wiggle was named Best Mail Order Company by 220 Triathlon Magazine, while Which? Named it the UK’s top sports and leisure site.

Wiggle started out as Butlers’ Cycles, an independent bike shop in Portsmouth trading since 1920. In 1999 it launched as Wiggle.co.uk and today its 45,000 sq ft warehouse stocks more than 250,000 products.
