XPO offers last mile tracking through Google Search

Consumers will now be able to track last mile deliveries through Google Search, thanks to a new initiative from XPO Logistics.
The heavy goods delivery company will now allow consumers to track their deliveries by typing the phrase XPO Package tracking into the normal Google search box.

They can then enter their tracking number into a special search box to display the progress of their item.

XPO said the offering is possible through integration with its last mile technology. It sits alongside other self-service options for items in transit, including online order management and text updates.

Mario Harik, chief information officer of XPO Logistics, said, “We have technology teams dedicated to enhancing consumerisation across the board for our ecommerce and omnichannel retail customers.

“Google Search interacts with our last mile technology, XPO Connect marketplace and XPO Direct shared-space network for a seamless digital experience.”

In February, XPO Logistics expanded its last mile logistics service of heavy goods to Europe with new markets including the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain and France. The company expects to manage more than 750,000 last mile deliveries from retailers and e-commerce companies in Europe this year.

The company is the largest last mile logistics provider for heavy goods in North America, facilitating approximately 14 million deliveries a year.
