Zalando customers in Switzerland can now offer products in the morning and receive a same-day evening delivery.
The service allows customers to place an order between midnight and 10.30 AM. Zalando staff will then prepare the orders at Lahr in Germany before they are transported to Switzerland and to a local distribution centre.
The fast fashion retailer has been working with Swiss Post and start-up notime on the pilot in the Zurich area since the end of June. The service uses CO2 neutral cargo bikes.
The “unlimited pilot” is designed to test speed and predictability of delivery. A similar same-day evening delivery service is also offered in over 20 German cities.
Lisa Miczaika, VP Central Europe at Zalando, said: “The higher satisfaction and loyalty due to the fast delivery in the evening is reflected in our customers’ purchasing behaviour: Satisfied customers order more and more frequently.
“We are therefore firmly convinced that fast or flexible delivery and return options, such as same-day or next-day delivery and returns collection, will become the new standard in metropolitan areas.”
The fashion giant will introduce 50 of the points in residential areas of the cities of Copenhagen and Aarhus. Customers can choose the option at checkout on Zalando.dk, with the service points offering opening hours between 4PM and 8PM.
