Debenhams Group plans to upskill employees with the launch of an AI Skills Academy, providing on-the-job training in the use of the technology.
The scheme will be available for all employees and funded through the group’s £1.35 million Apprenticeship Levy. It is being delivered in partnership with Multiverse.
Staff will be taught a variety of skills around the use of AI, including AI tools to boost productivity and free up time for higher-value, strategic work; applying AI solutions to streamline operations and reduce manual tasks, and how to build AI systems in-house to accelerate the group’s digital transformation and reduce reliance on external providers.
The new programme will be launched internally via a company-wide communication campaign, including in-person sessions delivered by Multiverse to help teams understand what’s on offer to develop their AI skills.
Dan Finley, CEO of Debenhams Group, said: “Adopting AI is not just about investing in our systems – it’s about investing in our people. With the launch of the AI Skills Academy, we’re giving our teams the tools to think differently, work smarter and build for the future. This is about unlocking the potential of every colleague to drive real innovation across the group.”
Debenhams Group includes Debenhams, Karen Millen, boohoo, boohooMAN and PrettyLittleThing.
