Epetōme, a subscription-based British gut health brand founded by nutritionist and bestselling author Emily English, has secured a multi-million-pound investment to accelerate international expansion and advance its clinical research. The funding, led by Active Partners and Redrice Ventures, demonstrates strong confidence in the company’s evidence-based approach and rapidly growing subscription model.

Since its 2023 launch, Epetōme has grown rapidly, driven by direct-to-consumer subscriptions that provide regular deliveries of its flagship probiotics and prebiotics. This recurring revenue model has fostered strong customer loyalty and reinforced the brand’s science-led reputation in a market often criticized for inconsistency and limited regulation.

The new funding will enable Epetōme to expand its product-testing pipeline and conduct enhanced clinical trials on probiotics and prebiotics to better understand their effects on the microbiome. The company views this investment as a key step toward setting higher standards of transparency and evidence in the supplements sector.

The importance of trust

Emily English, known for her platform EmTheNutritionist and as a Sunday Times bestselling author, stated that the investment will help Epetōme restore trust in the crowded wellness sector.

“The world of supplements can be hard to trust, and as a nutritionist I’ve seen the impact of that uncertainty first hand,” she said. “Epetōme was created to change that and to set a new industry standard for gut health supplements, built with integrity, evidence and real outcomes in mind.”

What Epetōme does

Epetōme customers frequently report reduced bloating, cramping, and digestive discomfort, as well as broader benefits such as calmer skin, fewer food sensitivity flare-ups, and support for IBS-type symptoms. This results-driven reputation has contributed to high subscription retention as the brand prepares for international expansion.

Co-founder and executive chair Jimmy Hill described Epetōme’s growth over the past year as “truly amazing to be a part of.” He added, “We can now double down on our investment in science, international growth, and our already brilliant team at Epetōme.”

Investor confidence reflects broader market trends, as gut health becomes mainstream and consumers seek clinically validated wellness products. Billy Fox, investor at Active Partners, said: “Today’s consumers are more informed and purposeful about their wellbeing than ever before. We believe the brand is exceptionally well-positioned to lead as this market continues to expand.”

With new investment and a subscription model supporting predictable growth, Epetōme is positioned to expand globally and strengthen its status as a leading UK gut health innovator.
