Shopify has expanded Shop Campaigns into the UK market – helping British retailers acquire new customers while only paying for the acquisition when the customer converts.

Already available in the US and Canada, Shop Campaigns enables merchants to promote products across the Shop app and other leading third-party channels like Meta, Google, X, Snap and Pinterest through a single campaign. Merchants simply choose what they are willing to pay to acquire a customer, paying per conversion rather than per click.

How this helps online retailers

For retailers, this lets them connect with potential customers across all their supported markets, without having to build creatives or audiences. When a shopper clicks on a promoted product, they’re directed to the product page on the Shop app, a dedicated shopping destination with hundreds of millions of verified shoppers worldwide. If the retailer sells into the USA and Canada, the products will be promoted across third-party channels there as well.

“Finding new customers is one of the biggest challenges a business faces, and too often it comes with unnecessary cost and complexity,” said Deann Evans, managing director, EMEA, at Shopify. “The expansion of Shop Campaigns to multiple new markets including the UK lowers that risk and workload dramatically. They can reach millions of shoppers actively looking to buy, only pay when a customer converts, and spend less time managing campaigns across different platforms.

“A smarter way to grow”

Evans added: “It’s a smarter way to grow, especially as businesses gear up for Black Friday weekend and the holiday retail season over the next few months.”

While Shop Campaigns is not a magic bullet – it relies on strong products, competitive pricing, good reviews and a website that’s optimised for conversion – it is nonetheless an easy way for retailers to acquire new customers without heavy investment. For retailers looking to grow ahead of peak trading, Shop Campaigns could prove a useful addition to the marketing mix, combining broad reach with a performance model that ties spend directly to results.
