Why IAB Europe’s Retail Media Impact Summit 2026 is focusing on the questions that come after rapid growth.
Retail media is maturing. The question is no longer simply how big it can become, but how it builds on that growth – proving value to advertisers, improving consistency, creating stronger commercial models and becoming easier to navigate.
Those questions will be at the heart of IAB Europe’s Retail Media Impact Summit on 7 October at Felix Meritis in Amsterdam. Bringing together 200 senior decision-makers from the sector, the Summit will focus on what comes after the initial boom and, importantly, give the people in the room a chance to contribute to the discussion.
Moving from growth to maturity
Expectations are growing around retail media as it matures. Brands want clearer evidence of performance and incrementality. Retailers are looking at how to build sustainable and scalable media businesses. Agencies need greater consistency across networks and markets. Technology companies are working through interoperability, data and integration challenges.
New areas of opportunity are also emerging rapidly, from AI and agentic commerce to travel media and non-endemic advertising.
For brands, the opportunity is there – but it’s a complex picture. How and where do you focus investment for the best results?
That’s why this year’s Summit is built around the theme Beyond the Boom: The Next Chapter of Retail Media Growth. Rather than focusing solely on where investment is increasing, the agenda will look at what is required to turn that growth into lasting value.
What happens on the day
The event will open with IAB Europe’s chief economist Dr Daniel Knapp, as he sets the European market context with new insights into retail media performance, sponsored product inventory and areas where further growth remains untapped.
From there, the agenda will move into some of the biggest opportunities and challenges, exploring travel media, data, AI and the commercial tensions that accompany growth, among other things. The event features some big names in the sector – but content is only one part of what makes the Retail Media Impact Summit different. The audience will have plenty of opportunities to get involved and ask questions. Participation is actively encouraged.
The idea is that the Summit creates space for people in the sector to share what they are seeing and learn from one another.
What happens next matters
Retail media has already demonstrated that it can attract significant advertiser investment. Now there are new questions to be answered. Can the industry make buying easier? Can it create more consistent measurement? Can retailers build propositions that work for merchants as well as advertisers? Can new opportunities such as AI, travel media and non-endemic demand deliver meaningful incremental growth? And can greater collaboration help the European market scale without losing sight of the differences between individual markets?
Those are the conversations that matter – and IAB Europe aims to provide the answers.
Registration is now open. Join IAB Europe at the Retail Media Impact Summit 2026 and be part of the discussion about what comes next.
