Amazon has partnered with 3D visualisation platform Hexa to allow selling partners augmented reality (AR) content on their product pages.

The partnership will also allow partners to create virtual try-on capabilities, bridging the gap between 2D and 3D.

The ecommerce giant’s selling partners can now upload their Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) into Hexa’s CMS, and the system will automatically convert an image into a high-fidelity 3D model with AR compatibility.

“Working with Amazon has opened up a whole new distribution channel for our partners,” Hexa vice president of partnerships Gavin Goodvach said.

“Brands now have the ability to distribute 3D experiences and deliver high quantity immersive shopping to Amazon’s global network of customers using Hexa’s proprietary content delivery network (CDN).”

The partnership follows recent comments made by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy who revealed the ecommerce giant is investing heavily in generative AI, claiming the technology will be a “big deal” for the business going forward.
