We’re excited in today’s InternetRetailing newsletter to reveal the shortlist for the 2014 Internet Retailing Awards. And over the coming weeks we’ll be looking at each award in detail ahead of the awards evening on June 26 at One Mayfair.
This week’s other news stories tell of multichannel moving to the forefront across the ecommerce and multichannel retail industry. Carphone Warehouse and Dixons say their merger will position the combined company well for a future in which digital will move centre stage, with mobile at the heart of it all. Thomas Cook, which this week said its annual income from ecommerce is now about £3bn, this week set out the role digital plays in its business, while we’ve also delved into final results from property developers British Land and Land Securities, to see why digital matters to those developing new retail sites – and what they’re doing about it.
What makes ecommerce so important to the industry is the fast growth of online sales, and today we also report on April’s figures from the IMRG.
We also have news of Cafédirect’s move into ecommerce, while today’s guest comment comes from Shane Fitzpatrick of Chase Paymentech.
