Big four supermarket Asda is working to extend its ecommerce product range, with Decathlon becoming the first seller to go live on George.com.
A selection of the Decathlon clothing, shoes and sports accessories are now available to purchase with Asda online, with more third-party offerings expected in the coming months.
In August, Asda reported strong online performance in Q2 with George.com sales rising by 3.9% and online grocery up 1.4%. The grocer also celebrated its strongest George back-to-school campaign, with a sales increase of 13.5%.
Andrew Thompson, Asda senior manager ecommerce portfolio, said: “Working with Virtualstock has enabled us to extend our range to customers by onboarding trusted brands such as Decathlon.
“This has given us the opportunity to appeal to a wider customer audience and grow our revenue.”
This latest introduction builds on Asda’s existing partnership with Decathlon, which includes concessions in 22 supermarkets across the UK. It also sees the supermarket partner with dropshipping and curated marketplace SaaS platform Virtualstock.
“This is a continuation of an emerging trend to grow online sales through carefully selected partners to create a curated online extended range,” added Ed Bradley, Virtualstock CEO.
