InternetRetailing Research brings you regular updates that name the IRUK Top100 websites that are managing peak traffic most effectively over the Black Friday weekend.

This weekend InternetRetailing Research, in collaboration with our knowledge partner NCC Group , is testing, on an hourly basis, the Top100 websites’ Speed Index on both mobile and desktop devices.

There’s more information at the bottom of this post on how we calculate these figures but, in a nutshell, the websites we’re listing here are the best performers today in the Top100 where ‘best performance’ is relative to each website’s performance on a normal weekend.

Top Retailers: 6am to midday – mobile device

The best mobile website experience relative to each website’s normal weekend performance was delivered by Office, JD Sports, and Boohoo.com over the six-hour period. Monsoon, Zara, French Connection, Footasylum, Debenhams, Homebase, and Jack Wills round out the top 10 mobile sites by this measure.

Top Retailers: 6am to midday – desktop device

The best desktop website experience relative to each website’s normal weekend performance was delivered by Zara, Office, and French Connection over the six-hour period. River Island, The Works, Jack Wills, Thorntons, Mothercare, Homebase, and Footasylum round out the top 10 desktop sites by this measure.

About these updates

Benchmark

Three weeks ago, on a more normal weekend for ecommerce, we conducted hourly tracking of the Top100 websites to record a benchmark. Today’s hourly tests are each compared to the relevant benchmark. We then average each website’s hourly variance from its benchmark to find the top lists over the given time periods described above.

You can find more information on Speed Index, the specific metric we use to calculate these performance figures.
