Fashion retailer Boohoo.com has completed the extension of its group distribution centre, which has been designed to cope with a £1 billion turnover at the business. The newly extended distribution centre will also see a significant element of automation as the retailer seeks to drive efficiency savings and is scheduled for operational use in early 2019.

Meanwhile brand PrettyLittleThing, which has more than 3 million active customers and was integrated into the group during the year, is to move to its own warehouse in the first half of the FY19 financial year with services provided by Clipper Logistics. “This brings incremental sales capacity in addition to that in our Burnley operations,” said boohoo.com joint CEOs Madmud Kamani and Carol Kane.

They said the warehouse move would help to underpin its infrastructure needs and add further operational flexibility for the group. “It represents a significant milestone as we develop a distribution network capable of generating £3 billion of net sales globally,” said the duo.
