Multichannel retailer Alliance Boots enjoys the UK’s strongest corporate reputation, according to a new report from the Reputation Institute.

It’s one of four UK retailers who are listed in the Annual Global Reputation Pulse Study 2010. The John Lewis Partnership was at number five, Marks & Spencer Group at number six, and Debenhams at number seven.

Other companies rated in the top 10 included Rolls Royce Aerospace, Cadbury and Christie’s.

The study measured corporate reputation by asking 5,591 online consumers to rank a maximum of five companies, based on their performance, products and services, leadership, innovation, citizenship, workplace and governance.

Consumers were also asked to rate the importance of a variety of industries. The digital economy and creative industries came fourth, with 59.01 points. Top of the list were low carbon industries with 66.18 points followed by advanced manufacturing with 63.19 points.
