Boots has been forced to place online customers into a virtual queue following a website crashed after customers rushed to buy its new No7 beauty range.

Currently, the website is down with many shoppers being temporarily placed into an online queue just to access the homepage.

A message on the beauty retailers website said: “Our website is full to the brim with shoppers now and you have been temporarily placed in a virtual queue!”

As a result, some shoppers have taken to social media to express their anger and confusion at the retailer.

One user said: “What is going on with Boots?? Why am I being placed in a virtual queue at 09:24 on a Wednesday morning??

Another added: “What’s with the website – been in a queue on two devices for over 20 minutes now…”

This comes as the announced its new No7 Future Renew collection was launching today, which it described as the “biggest cosmetic science innovation” in the brand’s history.

After 15 years of research and tests at the University of Manchester, the brand has launched four skincare products, containing a “super-peptide blend”.

“Underpinning this landmark innovation is No7’s long-standing research partnership with a team of expert scientists from the University of Manchester,” No7 head of science research Dr Mike Bell said:

“Together we used new state-of-the-art methodologies and techniques such as machine learning and advanced robotics to identify and screen naturally-occurring skin efficacious peptides – a first for the cosmetics industry.”

He added: “The result is a brand-new peptide blend which we believe will be a game changer, paving the way for highly effective skincare to be accessible to even more of our customers.”
