Private members website BrandAlley UK today said it had cemented its position as “the UK’s leading provider of online private sales” during 2011 – and intended to maintain that lead throughout the coming year and beyond.
In a trading update to the City, the fashion-to-homewares retailer said it now has 2.5m members, 0.5m gained during the last year, and that over the course of 2011 it added more than 100 brands to its portfolio. The French-owned company said that in the last quarter of 2011, BrandAlley UK had grown by more than 61%, with unique visitors up by 92% compared to the same period in 2010.
BrandAlley UK chief executive Rob Feldmann said the site had performed impressively at a time of challenging economic conditions that had hit the UK retail sector over the Christmas period. He added: “2012 will, we belive, prove to be yet another exciting year of further opportunity and continued growth for the company.”
The coming year will see BrandAlley launch its mobile site “shortly”.
“We strongly believe that BrandAlley offers our members the retail experience that they want,” said Feldmann, “be it either online or through m-commerce and because of this we will continue to be the market leader in the UK and become a key player in online retailing.”
Meanwhile, BrandAlley UK’s French parent company BrandAlley Group, has announced the appointment of Antoine Leloup, till now chief executive of BrandAlley Group, as its president, with immediate effect. He plans to oversee “ambitious development” that would increase the group’s market share in France and the UK. It would also launch in new European countries in next few years.
