The Co-op is connecting festival goers at this year’s Belladrum festival in Inverness-shire.

For the first time in the festival’s history revellers at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, which takes place in the Highlands between 4-6 August, will be able to get online at the Co-op’s wifi village.

The wifi village will be alongside Co-op’s pop-up shop, which will be the only national branded shop on site.

Alasdair Fowle, Co-op’s Marketing Manager said: “As a community retailer, we’re at the heart of people’s communities and providing the festival’s wifi village is a great way to help keep festival goers connected with their online social communities.

“Together with our pop-up shop, which is back by popular demand, we’re helping the 17,000 party goers fuel both their virtual and real-life appetites!”

Joe Gibbs, the festival founder commented: “You won’t find me on snapchat, but it’s brilliant that the Co-op will be bringing this extra element to the festival this summer. Connectivity in the Highlands is paramount for tourism and industry, to make sure that we remain relevant in the context of the globally connected world.”

Belladrum is a family-friendly, independent festival, which has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach. The festival won a VisitScotland Thistle Award in 2009 and is a past winner of the Grassroots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, the festival industry’s ‘Oscars’.

Now in its 13th year, the theme of the 2016 festival will be ‘Superstition.’

The festival which this year features Madness, Two Door Cinema Club, The Darkness, and many more is now sold out, marking the 8th year in a row of sell outs.
