Delivery network Collect+ has announced the 4000th store in its network of convenience stores.

The milestone was passed when the Menteith Mini Market in Alloa, Clackmannshire, Scotland, joined the company’s network of shops where customers can collect and send parcels delivered through the Yodel carrier, as well as returning goods to retailers who use the network.

Jahan Tayyab, manager of Menteith Mini Market, says: “We’re looking forward to offering the local community a parcel service that meets the needs of their busy lives. It’s also a great opportunity to attract more customers through the door and diversify the products and services we can give them.”

Collect+ says all the shops in its network are open for long hours, many for seven days a week. It also says its network answers the needs of people who are frustrated with the long queues they face in the Post Office and who otherwise might send or receive their personal parcels through work.

Its own research found that one in 10 send parcels at their employer’s expense, costing UK plc a collective £80m a year, while 15% admit to having personal parcels sent to their work address.

Mark Lewis, chief executive of Collect+, said: “For many working people, Post Office opening hours just aren’t convenient and the idea of joining an ever longer queue as the number of Post Offices is reduced isn’t anyone’s idea of a fun lunch hour.

“With the huge growth in popularity of online shopping and the ease with which items can be purchased, people are also demanding greater convenience in how their parcels are delivered and returned.”
