A new iPhone app has been launched that lets shoppers compare the price of a product at 100 top retailers by simply snapping an image of its barcode while in-store.
Sccope is currently one of the top 25 paid apps in the UK, winning top ratings from users for its ease of use and because it also provides a pricing history and enables shoppers to set a price drop alert so they can be informed whenever a retailer begins to offer an item at a lower price.
Sccope updates the prices on 280,000 products on a daily basis and also provides data on whether the item is in stock at particular retailers. Users can also set stock alerts so they are informed when a product goes back into stock at a particular retailer.
By turning their iPhone to landscape view, shoppers can review graphs of historical price information to see if the current price is competitive. Products can also be added to a personal wish list.
The app costs £1.19 and will soon also be available to users of T-Mobile's Web and Walk service as well as iPhone users. A video demonstrating Sccope in action has been produced by the company:
"We are in the business of making sure that our users get the very best prices on their purchases," says Sccope's CEO Douglas Orr. "Our iPhone App takes this service to a new level with the ability to quickly and accurately scan barcodes and compare prices while shopping."
