DFS has launched its first business-to-business website, with the unveiling of

The furniture site is targeted at trade customers from independent and large hotel groups, who can search a range of contract grade furniture developed by DFS and Curtis Furniture.

The site, optimized for tablet devices, has been developed by Salmon, which last year relaunched DFS consumer website, in tandem with a new multichannel platform. is built as an extended site on the same WebSphere Commerce platform. That means DFS can target different customers while sharing data between the two sites. The new site, say its developers, majors on imagery and inspiration.

Russell Harte, head of multichannel development and delivery at DFS, said: “Our investment in the last 18 months with Salmon, in replatforming our website to support and now launching is paying dividends. We are really pleased with the progress we have made with online unique visitors growing by 36% in the last year and some great trading results; we hope DFS Contract will follow in its footsteps.”

Salmon chief executive Neil Stewart said: “We are pleased to be part of DFS’s digital transformation and wish them every success with their new B2B venture. They are a great example of how businesses can create additional web sites relatively easily and quickly targeting different market segments or for additional brands, if they put the right platform in place in the first instance.”
