DHL Parcel is planning an expansion of its network of Packstations in Europe and will continue to expand in Germany too.
The 3,400 Packstations in more than 1,600 cities and municipalities in Germany already means that it takes ten minutes or less for 90% of the population in Germany to reach a nearby DHL Packstation where they can send and collect DHL items.
Expansion in Germany is continuing with a new, compact version also being introduced. New functionality is also to be introduced that will allow mobile parcel stamps to be printed out directly from the DHL Packstation.
The Packstations have already been introduced in Austria and the Netherlands and the company said that other European countries will follow. “Our Packstation network is the only of its kind in the world and remains a true breakthrough in parcel delivery,” said Achim Dünnwald, CEO of DHL Parcel.
“We have again significantly expanded the number of locations in Germany and plan to continue adding new ones in the future so that we may offer our ever-growing customer base a way to send and receive private items in a way that can be integrated even more smoothly into their daily schedules,” he said, adding that the company is looking for central public locations such as in supermarkets and train stations for new installations.
