Dixons Travel today opens a new-look digital concept store in London Heathrow’s Terminal Three.
The store, says Dixons, represents a new approach to bringing the online and offline together in the store.
The 2,196 sq ft store is in a newly expanded section of the departure lounge and introduces some new concepts and digital features. They include dedicated and connected spaces where travellers can test out the latest technology, from the latest virtual reality game to controlling Philips hue lighting from their Apple Watch.
More than 50 metres of digital signage line the internal store perimeter, highlighting tailored offers and explaining the latest tech benefits that improve the shopping experience. There’s also a welcome area where passengers can sit and charge their mobile phones, while talking to Team Knowhow experts on how the technology on sale works.
The new store also enables shoppers to use omnichannel services, reserving products online for Heathrow pick-up, or buying online in store for home delivery.
Heidi Woodhouse, Dixons Travel managing director, said: “We are really excited to be opening this new look store and providing a unique shopping experience designed especially with passengers in mind. Whether you would like a Michael Kors smart watch to track your cycling distance whilst on holiday, need a Dyson hairdryer for that birthday present you forgot whilst you are away, or that Nest thermostat you’ve been thinking about for your own home, we can help you select the device that’s right for you to take away, or have delivered and even set up. We can’t wait to hear what our customers think.”
Ben Crowley, head of retail technology for Heathrow said; “As part of a wider plan to revitalise the Terminal Three experience we have worked with Dixons to create a world leading technology store which will surprise and delight our passengers. Every aspect has been meticulously designed, bringing together cutting-edge design and technology under one roof.”
