Duifhuizen has launched a new international website as it goes in search of cross-border growth.
The Dutch retailer of bags and travel goods has launched duifhuizen.com in response to growing interest from overseas in its existing Netherlands website.
“We’ve noticed a continuous rise in our customers from abroad,” said ecommerce manager Mark van der Stokker.
Duifhuizen, which has 26 stores in the Netherlands, now aims to be more accessible to international shoppers, and has started with a change of name for the international site, from Duifhuizen tassen & koffers to Duifhuizen bags & travel. The site builds on the design already used across its domestic websites, duifhuizen.nl and duifhuizen.be, following a recent makeover.
The retailer has researched its target international audience and is looking to focus in its procurement on products and brands that interest international shoppers.
“In future we’re looking to focus more on country-specific content. We know where our visitors are coming from and have the means to provide them with targeted content on the moments that count”, said van der Stokker. “Take Mother’s Day for example. This day is celebrated earlier in the UK than it is in The Netherlands. On the international online shop we’ve timely adjusted our content in order to offer the English-speaking customer the best service at the most relevant moment.”
Now Duifhuizen will concentrate on how best to provide the service that its international customers require.
Van der Stokker said: “From this point on we have the possibility to further explore our options, such as expanding our range of local payment and delivery options in a way that is most convenient for our international customers. Additionally, we will try to interact locally and overcome the obstacles on our path in terms of logistics. It’s easy to see there are still plenty of challenges ahead. But we’re ready to face them, one by one.”
