The changing face of online delivery

Linked InTwitterFacebookeCard

There's change in the air in today's Internet Retailing newsletter. The change we're focusing on today is not so much change in the way that we shop, but in the way that we take delivery of the goods we've bought. News that Amazon, up to now the home of free delivery, is introducing postal charges for many products costing less than £10 could presage a change to consumer expectations. No longer will there always be a free delivery option, and that has implications both for them and for other retailers who trade online, as well as for the logistics industry in general. But just as this significant change to home delivery comes into play, we also focus today on the growth predicted for Click and Collect services. Find out more about both stories in our newsletter stories below.

In today's Internet Retailing newsletter we also have news of the keynote lineup at this year's Internet Retailing Conference, to be held at the London Hammersmith Novotel on October 16. We report on the fraud figures from Martec's Retail Fraud Survey and on news of growth from Findel. Today's guest comment is from John Thompson of User Replay, who considers the effect of bugs on the retailer's website – and how they can act to counter them.

Webinars

We have an upcoming webinar to let you know about today.

On Tuesday August 13, Jim Davidson, manager of marketing research at Bronto, joins us for Bam! Ka-Pow! Power-packing your post-purchase programs. During the event, to be held at 2pm, he will be considering how post-purchase email marketing can help to ensure long-term customer loyalty and repeat sales. It's an under-used part of the customer lifecycle, he says, that can give a strong boost to online sales and conversion by talking directly to the multi-device, multi-tasking consumer. Find out more on the Bronto webinar page, where you can also register for free.

More information about our webinar programme is available here.
