Whether it’s an ecommerce merchant who needs to get festive orders out to their customers in the UK or someone sending presents to friends and family, there are cut-off dates consumers need to know to make sure everything gets there on time. Evri is the first carrier to announce its UK domestic Christmas posting deadlines.

Evri’s last posting days for parcels to be delivered in time for Christmas are:

  • Tuesday 19th December – last day for courier collections
  • Wednesday 20th December – send a parcel standard delivery from a ParcelShop by 11am

If consumers need to send parcels a bit further this Christmas, consumers might need to get their international parcels to Evri by 22nd November, depending on destination.

Evri added it has lowered the price of its ‘Postable’ service – which is equivalent to a large letter, weighs less than 1kg and can usually be posted through a letterbox. The price for this service, through the Evri website, is now £2.59 lowered from its previous price of £2.70, which it has been since April this year.

For those wanting to save more, consumers are also able to send between Evri’s ParcelShops across the country from £2.51. Evri has around 8,000 ParcelShops, with more than three quarters of the population living within a 10-minute walk of an out-of-home location.

In addition, ParcelShop to ParcelShop deliveries typically reduce the carbon footprint of a parcel by more than 45% and consumers can print postage labels in-store for free.

Retailers, including John Lewis, have reported doubled searches for festive gifts and lookups of wrapping paper and crackers are up over 400%. Planners at Evri are also predicting that consumers will begin to shop earlier this year to spread the cost as the cost-of-living crisis continues in the UK, expecting the busiest day to be Monday 27 November. Planners anticipate that many will choose to send gifts during October and November, rather than waiting until December.

This year, Evri has invested £46mn to get ready for the busiest time of the year. The business has invested in people, parcels and processes and has recruited over 6,500 extra couriers, almost 300 additional customer service agents to handle the extra parcel volume. Evri is prepared to deliver over 3.5 million parcels every day on its busiest days, processing the parcels through over 500 sites across the UK.
