FireText help online stores get personal with customers, with text plug in for Magento

Looking to let e-commerce businesses of all sizes capitalize on the growing mobility of consumers, FireText, a leading UK provider in SMS text marketing, has launched the first of many ecommerce products by revealing a new Magento extension.


Dan Parker, FireText co-founder explains: “Mobiles have become very personal devices and SMS is a very personal way of communicating. It enables ecommerce businesses to give that human touch with every transaction – just like shopping in store.”

A recent survey from Google mobile planet revealed that 4 in 5 smartphone owners will not leave the house without their device. With social media, banking apps and more, mobiles have arguably become more personal than ever before.

Parker believes that many online stores lack an element of human interaction that you would naturally get in retail and that SMS is now being recognised as both a practical and inexpensive way to get personal.

“SMS doesn’t have to be formal, it can be very chatty. Our Magento extension is focussed on helping brands communicate their personality through text marketing in order to generate customer emotion” Dan continued.

The extension has been developed in partnership with Insite Digital, who are a Magento Partner Agency that specialise in the delivery of high converting Magento eCommerce stores.

We have seen a huge increase in the volume of mobile traffic to our clients’ eCommerce sites and using technologies like SMS that suit mobile customers is becoming a well-recognised practice”.

As mobile commerce grows and click-and-collect models take shape, text marketing looks set to take centre stage for building customer relationships and generating emotion.
