From House of Fraser to Séraphine: how UK retailers are expanding their horizons

This is an archived article - we have removed images and other assets but have left the text unchanged for your reference

In today’s Internet Retailing newsletter we report as retailers from House of Fraser to Duchess of Cambridge favourite Séraphine and footwear manufacturer Hotter look overseas for growth.

House of Fraser today said it is planning new websites in Australia and China as it looks to take its multichannel experience international. Meanwhile, Hotter and Séraphine were recognised for their work in selling overseas when they both won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for their contribution to international trade.

With the theme of international trade in mind, we also today report on research from arvato showing that the US, China, and India are key target markets for UK retailers and brands as they expand online.

Elsewhere in today’s newsletter, we also report on footwear retailers Clarks as it uses technology to engage its customers in store, and Shoe Zone, as it reassures on online growth but warns on profits. We have an extra guest comment this week: Scott Logie, MD of REaD Group Insight, considers digital strategies for high street retailers.
