Holland & Barrett today said its business was growing across all its sales channels, as it unveiled rising turnover and profits.
The multichannel wellness retailer, a Top150 member of the IRUK 500, reported turnover of £368.8m in the year to the end of September 2014, 5.5% ahead of the same time lat year. Pre-tax profits grew by £5m, or 6%, to £89.5m.
Holland & Barrett Retail traces its roots to the late 19th century when it opened as a grocery shop. Today it is known as a health and wellness retailer, and is part of vitamin and supplements company NBTY Europe. It sells online and through 740 stores in the UK and 300 owned and franchised stores in Europe and markets including Singapore, Malta, Dubai and China. Included in those numbers are its GNC and MET-Rx sports nutrition brands.
Chris Keen, chief finance officer for Holland & Barrett International, said the results followed investment in the UK and overseas.
“We continue to see sustainable growth this financial year across all channels and markets, and our recent investment in new stores and new propositions such as Free From food in the new Holland & Barrett More concept stores puts us in a strong position to further leverage the global trend of healthy living and wellness,” he said.
