Online grocery delivery is in the spotlight in today’s Internet Retailing newsletter, where today we report on ONS figures showing that 3.2% of UK grocery shopping now takes place online, on Asda’s plans to up the pace of its multichannel investment, and on a new kind of online grocery service that uses local shoppers and existing supermarkets to get groceries to customers within the hour. It’s all interesting development, which comes as the supermarkets – and grocers – get closer to a tipping point of mass adoption of online shopping. Many more of us are likely to buy our groceries over the internet in the future – but how will that future service differ from that of today? Find out how services are evolving now in the stories below.

Today we also report on a high-profile distribution contract and see how the different ways that customers contact brands compare in a new study. Our guest comment today comes from Simon Gray, head of new business at the Lateral Group.
