How retailers and brands can navigate emerging channels at ChannelX World

A new event dedicated to emerging retail channels, from marketplaces to social media and the metaverse, launches this autumn with the support of RetailX and InternetRetailing.

ChannelX World, from InternetRetailing sister title ChannelX, aims to bring merchants, retailers and direct-selling brands together in London on October 13 for a full day hearing about the opportunities that new channels have to offer and the experiences of those that have found success. It comes at a time when shoppers often head first for marketplaces, and more than 40% of online retail now takes place on marketplaces. The latest RetailX Top1000 Europe 2022 suggests that 66% of visits to the Europe Top1000 are to marketplaces. The Top1000 is made up of 528 retailers (who see 20% of traffic), 379 brands (14% of traffic) and 93 marketplaces – meaning that marketplaces far outperform other types of sites, and putting them well ahead in the race to attract shoppers. In future retailers will expect to serve customers in locations as diverse as the metaverse, social media platforms and no doubt more.

An opening live keynote session will feature keynote speakers from leading brands. Speakers in the session include Priyanka Wadhawan, director, marketplace UK at Amazon, Patrick Nommensen, senior director of ecommerce operations at TikTok, and Murray Lambell, Vice President and general manager at eBay UK. The event then splits into three tracks: GrowthOperations or Insights, each featuring case studies in which retailers share their own experiences of new channels, helping participants to navigate their way through the world of marketplaces, social media and the metaverse. The tracks run alongside a series of workshops and one-to-one meet-ups with exhibitors who are showcasing their technologies in the event exhibition. The day ends with an opportunity to meet over networking drinks.

The event is aimed at merchants, retailers and brand owners that turn over at least £1m.
