More than a third of sales from Domino’s Pizza deliveries in the UK and Ireland this summer came from online orders.

In a management statement published today, Domino's Pizza UK and Ireland said online orders rose by “an incredible” 68.7% over the summer, accounting for 39.7% of delivered sales. In the 13 weeks to September 26, ecommerce sales reached £33.0 in value, up from £19.6m at the same time last year. And in the year to date, internet sales have risen to £89.9m, from £54.5m last time.

Ecommerce was a “key driver” of total group sales during the 13 weeks to September 26, which grew by 17.9% to £115.7m, compared to £98.1m at the same time last year. Like-for-like sales rose by 9.9%.

So far this year the company has opened 16 new stores and expects to reach 55 by the end of the year.

Chief executive Chris Moore said: “As a result of our strong trading in the third quarter and, indeed, the year so far, the board believes it is on track to achieve full-year profitability at the upper end of current market expectations.”
